Accounting

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a 9 1/2 -month, full time, Accounting Faculty position. The Tillman School of Business (TSB) undergraduate traditional program in Accounting is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Accounting is one of several areas that compose the business core in TSB. Accounting courses are taught in the following formats: Traditional seated and non-traditional online (graduate and undergraduate).

Position Description:
Preference will be given to applicants that have qualifications that enable them to teach in areas of financial and managerial accounting, intermediate, tax, auditing and governmental.  In addition, experience and/or certifications that allow application of data analytics and problem-solving skills in the areas of cybersecurity and/or forensic accounting is desired. The ideal candidate will be interested in research as well as applying what he/she teaches. Responsibilities include teaching a combination of undergraduate and graduate MBA courses in accounting and related subject areas, four courses in fall and spring semesters, respectively. Faculty are required to be contributing members of the department, business school and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Accounting or Master of Science in Accounting in addition to a CPA license. Degree(s) must be from regionally accredited institution(s).

School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences

Plant Science

The University of Mount Olive is private faith based liberal arts institution and the only private university in NC offering multiple degrees in agriculture and agribusiness. The University has over 1000 traditional undergraduate students and the School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences over 300 of these attendees seeking undergraduate degrees in agricultural and biological fields of study. The campus is located in eastern NC about one hour east of Raleigh and one hour west of Wilmington located on the NC coast. The University is located in Wayne County and in the heart of the agricultural industry in NC.

The School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time (12 month) Assistant Professor faculty position beginning Fall 2021 (August 1, 2021 start date). The candidate sought should have qualifications enabling them to teach in the areas of horticulture, plant science, plant biotechnology, and other related areas as qualified. The School focuses on applied learning experiences for students and supports the delivery of hands-on experiential learning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate classes and labs delivered in a seated format. Teaching responsibilities will include preparation and teaching of lower and upper-level undergraduate courses. Demonstrated success as an instructor and in the application of innovative and hands-on teaching techniques is preferred. In addition, experience and/or certifications that allow application of principles and theories related to the field of study is also desired. Candidates will have the use of and be involved in the direction of production practices and management of a campus greenhouse, arboretum, and a horticultural/agronomic crops unit at the Kornegay Student Farm during the semester and through the summer.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate mission of the School and University. The candidate would also participate in School activities, collegiate club activities, student farm development, and other facility enhancement projects.

Biology

School of Arts and Sciences

Director of Family Nurse Practitioner

The Division of Nursing at the University of Mount Olive seeks applications for a Director of Family Nurse Practitioner(FNP) Program to join our faculty in Mount Olive, North Carolina. We are seeking an individual to build a Master of Science in Nursing program for a Family Nurse Practitioner Track.

The position will be full-time faculty position, beginning in January, 2021.

Requirements:

  • Teach 12 hours of faulty load per year which may include traditional, non-traditional, and online.
  • Design program so that candidates may successfully complete the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam as administered by AANPCB.
  • Candidate should have experience with SACSCOC accreditation and Substantive Change Policies.
  • Candidates MUST hold national FNP certification.
  • An earned doctorate in nursing or related field is preferred. Recent FNP clinical experience preferred.

Director of MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program

 Position Description:
Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate knowledge, experience, and skill set to serve as academic program leader, to articulate program vision within the context of the University’s mission, to assist with CACREP accreditation process. The ideal candidate will demonstrate problem-solving skills, ability to manage data, and understand human behavior. Admissions Representative

The University of Mount Olive at the Mount Olive location has an immediate opening for an Admissions Representative.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Nurture, build and sustain ongoing professional relationships with prospective students and those who influence them to achieve assigned enrollment management objectives within allocated travel and spending budget by moving students and their parents to progressively higher levels of interest and commitment to enrollment at University of Mount Olive

  • Strategically determine the next best source and means of institutional contact for each of the hot prospects in the assigned territory
  • Continually re-qualify the inquiry pool, so that those inquiries most likely to enroll are the ones being contacted on a regular basis. Contact hot prospects at least once per week
  • Monitor the receipt of applications from the assigned territory and see that those most likely to enroll are being contacted at least once a week.
  • Ensure that all inbound and outbound communication with prospects and applicants is accurately recorded in a timely manner in the University of Mount Olive computer system
  • Evaluate applications for admissions from the assigned territory making each admit/reject decision using discretionary professional judgment about the applicant’s academic preparation, academic work ethic, and fit for the academic programs at University of Mount Olive
  • Formulate and determine the best way to provide informational assistance to students and/or parents in completing financial aid forms, institutional scholarship applications, payment plans and loans
  • Award institutional scholarships for academic, leadership, church affiliation and need based programs using professional judgment about applicant’s eligibility and ability to meet the requirements for continued participation.
  • Coordinate institutional award decisions with the total financial aid package for new students in the assigned territory, working with families and their financial aid counselor
  • Document activity and decisions about applications for admissions and institutional awards from the assigned territory in accordance with established standards

  • Assist the director of marketing in the creation of ideas for literature, displays, promotional materials and programs for use in recruitment.

Director of Financial Aid

The University of Mount Olive is seeking a dynamic professional to fill the position of Financial Aid Director.

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the comprehensive operation of the Financial Aid Office, including the implementation of all Title IV federal and state programs, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight in the day-to-day operational activities required to administer and manage the state, federal grant, loan, scholarship, and student employment programs. Identifies problems and implements solutions.
  • Oversees the supervision of office personnel including student employees and works to promulgate efficient office workflow by delegating work assignments to accomplish office objectives.
  • Charged with maintaining a thorough knowledge of Title IV and state aid programs and must stay up-to-date with federal/state rules and regulations to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of University policies that relate to the administration of financial aid, such as, but not limited to: admissions, enrollment objectives, academic credit requirements, academic suspension/probation, withdrawal, and refund policies.
  • Directs processing of aid applications including determining eligibility, award amounts, and notification of students’ award; prepares documentation, validations, and resolves student appeals. Reviews and assesses eligibility of applications for financial aid by completing file verification involving the review of financial statements, tax return information, and other relevant documentation as required by Title IV regulations; packages and awards aid using PFaids software.
  • Prepares and administers departmental budget; assists with university budget matters relative to financial aid and other funding.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reconciling the federal and state grants, work-study, and internal and external scholarship funds on a monthly, quarterly, and basis with Accounting and Student Accounts Offices.
  • Works collaboratively with the University’s IT personnel on installation timing of all Pfaids Financial Aid updates and participates in testing of all programs, as applicable, prior to running processes in production mode.
  • Responsible for administering the annual Pfaids financial aid setup. Identifies Pfaids issues related to financial aid processing, reporting systems, Pfaids generated communication, budget, packaging/awarding and disbursement of aid funds, etc.
  • Responsible for supervising the PFaids processes related to uploading FAFSA information into PFaids.
  • Responsible for running end of term Satisfactory Academic Progress process and delegating the work needed to determine continued aid eligibility and communication to students
  • Works to create system queries to assist with the day-to-day operation of the office, federal, state, and institutional aid processing.
  • Participates in the collection, management, and reporting of data in accordance with the objectives of the position; participates in the development and implementation of data management systems and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of the annual FISAP report for the U.S. Department of Education, IPEDS Financial Aid reporting as well as other federal/state required reporting.
  • Works with other campus offices to assist with meeting their reporting requirements.
  • Works to meet A133 audit requirements and requests from external auditing agencies. Primary contact for the compliance portion of the audit.
  • Serves as liaison with campus departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders who have interest with the Financial Aid Office or the University.
  • Provide a lead role in advisement to students and their families regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and application processes.
  • The Director is accountable for establishing and maintaining excellent customer service standards within the department; securing and developing professional staff members and managing the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Expected to deal with and resolve complex financial aid issues.
  • Responds to inquiries, researches, and resolves problems related to transactions handled by the unit and serves as a liaison with other constituents in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.
  • Participates in Financial Aid workshops and/or presentations for current and prospective students on campus and at surrounding schools and communities in the University’s service area.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sponsored by Federal Student Aid Programs, State Education Assistance Authority, and the University.

Administrative Assistant

The University of Mount Olive is seeking a dynamic professional for a new Administrative Assistant position at the UMO Flight School.  The Administrative Assistant to the Director of Flight Operations reports to the Director of Flight Operations and generally assists the Director with daily administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate; Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
  • Flight certification preferred; basic knowledge of aeronautics a must
  • Previous administrative assistant experience highly preferred, experience within higher education a plus.

Bus Drivers

The University of Mount Olive is searching for a part-time bus driver to drive athletic teams and other student organizations in a large passenger bus (buses range from 29-passengers to 59 passengers).  Must have a flexible schedule since travel may be overnight and on any day of the week, including weekends. Assistant Project Facilitator

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Assistant Project Facilitator.  This is a time-limited appointment of three years for liaison work with Duplin County Schools and James Sprunt Community College as part of a Kenan Charitable Trust Grant focused on recruiting students from Duplin County into the teaching profession.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in design and implementation of Kenan Charitable Trust Homegrown Teacher Academy programs
  • Identify students in Duplin County Schools who show interest in a career in teaching
  • Research best practices for teacher recruitment/retention
  • Provide leadership for teacher academy students at the school
  • Provide pre-college exposure to the teaching profession
  • Provide information to students and parents about the teacher academy
  • Present information to stakeholder groups such as the Board of Education, principals, teachers, etc.
  • Coordinate with school mentors at each of the schools
  • Coordinate campus visits to James Sprunt Community College and University of Mount Olive
  • Assist in coordinating peer learning experiences for interested students
  • Supervise student mentorships for JSCC/UMO students
  • Other duties as assigned

Student Accounts Assistant

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a part-time Student Accounts Assistant in the Business Office at the Mount Olive location.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Primary person in the Business Office to greet students, parents and other walk-ins, including the receiving and coding of payments on student accounts.
  • Deliver, retrieve and process daily mail for the Business Office.
  • Learn the Power Campus software on a basic level to be able to answer questions from students regarding their account, as well as approving bookstore purchases for students using financial aid.
  • Answer incoming phone calls to the general Business Office phone line, and route accordingly.
  • Post online payments from one-time payments as well as payment plan payments on a daily basis and ensure the accuracy of clearing stops in PowerCampus when needed.
  • Post returned refunds from BankMobile into PowerCampus as needed.
  • Post payment plans to anticipated aid as students enroll into monthly payment plans.
  • Acts as the primary cashier for the office taking in person payments and completing the daily cash report for accounting.
  • Makes daily deposits for the university at Southern Bank.
  • Assist the Director of Student Accounts and Student Account Representatives as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
