TILLMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

ACCOUNTING

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, faculty position in Accounting to begin August 1, 2018. The Accounting program is based at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses and in the online MBA program.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours, academic advising, participating in ACBSP program assessment and related course development.

BUSINESS  MANAGEMENT

ECONOMICS

Allied Faculty

The Tillman School of Business (TSB) at the University of Mount Olive invites applications for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the TSB, two to six classes per year.

The individuals hired for these positions shall have qualifications related to (and an interest in) one of the TSB undergraduate or graduate level programs to include; Accounting, Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and the Management of Computer Information Systems.

Teaching assignments will typically include evening classes at one or more of the regional campuses across eastern North Carolina or online relying on Moodle as the LMS. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising.

The University of Mount Olive employs Full-time Faculty, primarily based at the main campus at Mount Olive, Allied Faculty based across the region, and Adjunct Faculty who teach individual courses on an as needed basis, also located across the region. Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. Allied faculty are considered members of the faculty and can pursue promotion in rank based on the guidelines found in the faculty handbook.

The anticipated start date is August 2017 or January 2018.

 ASSISTANT DEAN, TILLMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (TSB)

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Assistant Dean for the Tillman School of Business (TSB). This individual will report directly to the Dean of TSB. This position is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual who desires to make a difference in the lives of young adults and participate in the development of business programs and processes that will “transform the lives” of students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1)      Providing leadership and oversight of all accreditation activities for the Tillman School of Business as it relates to SACS and ACBSP.

  • Work closely with the dean and the senior leadership team, as well as other stakeholders, to ensure clear communication of and preparation for accreditation requirements and related objectives.
  • Guide the implementation of vision, goals, strategic plans and activities to ensure success in all initial and ongoing accreditation activities, while ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
  • Develop processes and procedures to manage and access data for assessment and continuous improvement of educational outcomes and processes.
  • Create and maintain a repository of documentation in support of accreditation activities including assessment data, reports, standard documents, and project plans.
  • Disseminate accreditation and assessment materials to leadership, stakeholders and constituents to ensure continuous and transparent exchange of information.
  • Generate internal and external reports, executive summaries and respond to inquiries, surveys and data collection requests pertaining to assessment and accreditation, e.g., surveys of employers, alumni, current graduates, current students, and faculty.

2)      Guiding and reviewing TSB faculty advising to ensure that students receive adequate attention and advice in their intellectual pursuits while at the University as a business major.

3)      Addressing undergraduate student issues (i.e., academic and behavioral) and complaints.

  • Communicate with the appropriate faculty, staff, and/or administrators within TSB and at UMO regarding academic issues that pertain to programming, courses, scheduling, substitutions, directed studies, experiential learning credits, transfer policy, etc.
  • Maintain records of individual student meetings in accordance with FERPA, which include student issues and concerns as well as follow-up communications and resolutions.

4)      Assisting in admissions, orientation, graduation, and other university-related and school-related events that pertain to undergraduate business students.

5)      Collaborating with the TSB Dean and Office of Marketing Communications on developing marketing communications strategy to target prospective business students through social media, print advertisements, brochures, Internet, and other communication mediums.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master degree with experience in higher education, preferred – previous experience with the ACBSP accreditation process; doctorate in a business field.

 Environmental Science and Biology Instructor

The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at the University of Mount Olive seeks to fill a position in the area of Environmental Science and Biology at the instructor or assistant professor level.  The position will be full-time, 9-month beginning August of 2018. ENGLISH

The Department of English at the University of Mount Olive seeks to fill an Assistant Professor of English faculty position in the area of literature and composition studies.  The position will be full-time, 9-month beginning August of 2018. The successful candidate would be able to demonstrate excellence in and enthusiasm for teaching British, American or World Literature (survey and major courses) and First-Year Writing. Teaching responsibilities will be responsible for teaching 24 semester hours for the academic year or 12 semester hours per semester.  The candidate is also expected to participate in scholarship and service to the department, university, and community.

Co-Division Chair – Education Department

The University of Mount Olive invites applications for the position of Co-Division Chair for our Education program. This position will transition to full division chair within a one-year period.  This position is a full-time, 12-month faculty position with an administrative stipend that will begin in August, 2018.  Requirements include the ability to teach 15 faculty load hours for the academic year, while serving as the Division Chair for Education.   Candidates should be able to teach at the Graduate and Undergraduate level.

The UMO Education Program is a dynamic program that offers teacher licensure in ten undergraduate and three graduate disciplines. The ten discipline areas are Agriculture, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, English, Music, Science, Elementary, Early Childhood, Special Education and Mathematics.  We are seeking a visionary leader who is able to teach coursework in the areas of pedagogy, classroom management, reading and leadership.  Additionally, this person should be able to work as a liaison with the Department of Public Instruction and with local school districts.  Previous experience in Leadership/Management is required.

As Division Chair, responsibilities include leading the program, ensuring licensure requirements are met through the Department of Public Instruction, staffing of courses, hiring and training faculty, as well continual assessment of the curriculum. The Division Chair credentials all faculty and adjuncts.  Our Early Childhood Education program is offered to adult learners at all seven UMO locations.   Additionally, we offer a graduate M.Ed. program in the areas of Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education.

Clinical Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Mount Olive seeks applications for an Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology to join our faculty at the main campus in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychodiagnostics, Theories of Personality and Assessment.

The position will be full-time, 9-months, beginning January 2017 or August 2018.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MULTIPLE FACULTY POSITIONS IN THE AGRICULTURE DIVISION

The University of Mount Olive Agriculture Division is seeking qualified candidates for full faculty teaching positions in multiple disciplines.  These positions are focused on teaching, but support is provided for faculty interest in research, and extension programming. Faculty will be involved in recruitment and be instrumental in the development of the student research farm. Candidates are being sought in the disciplines of Animal Science, Agricultural Education, Agribusiness, Environmental Science, Horticulture, Plant/Crop Science, Soil Science or related disciplines. An earned Master’s Degree in the specified disciplines is required however a Doctoral Degree is preferred.

The University of Mount Olive is located in Wayne County in eastern North Carolina. The agriculture program has acquired multiple facilities to support these experiential learning opportunities including a greenhouse, agricultural mechanics shop, an on-campus arboretum and most recently a student farm tailored for teaching and undergraduate research.  Allied Faculty

The University of Mount Olive, Division of Agriculture within the School of Arts and Sciences is seeking applicants for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the Agriculture Division. Allied faculty may teach from two to six classes per year and will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising. Allied faculty will be based at the main campus. Additional allied faculty may serve at agricultural academy locations as needed.

The individuals hired for these positions may include candidates that have qualifications related to the undergraduate programs to include: Agribusiness, Animal Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, and Soil Science.

Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. STAFF & ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

DIRECTOR OF HOUSING

The University of Mount Olive has an opening for a Director of Housing. This is a full time, twelve month live-in position that will be responsible for managing the day to day housing operations for the university. In addition, they will manage all housing assignments, maintaining the housing software system and coordinating facility plans. This position will also oversee the housing selection process and RA selection process. The director will provide leadership for the overall campus living and learning experience and manage all related tasks associated with maintaining a residential community.

The person in this position will work closely with two other live-in professionals to provide a comprehensive residential programming on campus. This position will manage a residential area of 3 residence halls (approximately 200 students) and supervise 5 to 8 resident assistants. Responsibilities will include staff training, conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and the implementation of residence hall programming designed to complement the goals of the residence life program and mission of the University. This live in position will require flexible hours, a team building attitude and a sincere desire to work with students in a religiously affiliated private liberal arts university environment. This person will serve on a three person on-call rotation for campus emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field required. Supervisory experience and extensive experience in residential living, either as a graduate student or full time employee are required. Preference will be given to candidates with 2-3 years post graduate work experience.

Funded by a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant, this newly created position will lead the development, oversight, and scheduling of the new Teaching Excellence Center and provide high-quality and meaningful professional development activities for faculty in pedagogy and instructional technology.

Funded by a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant, this newly created position will implement comprehensive career assessment strategies to assist with individualized case management system for students.

ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Assistant Controller.  This is a full-time exempt position which reports directly to the Controller.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise payroll including review and approval of biweekly, monthly & adjunct pay, 401k deferral and match, quarterly and annual filings including W-2s, handle workers compensation audits, 401k plan audits, perform nondiscrimination testing, notify 401k plan participants of service fee disclosures annually through TIAA, track time off balances and handle related inquiries, maintain general ledger coding of payroll accounts within financial software, approve entries to post payroll and related tax payments, and provide information needed to prepare Form 5500
  • Fixed asset recordkeeping including identification of potential fixed assets via review of purchasing transactions and related invoices, run depreciation reports and reconcile to general ledger, and account for capital leases
  • Accounting for grants, coordinate preparation of grant reports and reconciliation of grant activity between PI and accounting records, and respond to grantor agency requests as needed

ADMINISTRATIVE  ASSISTANT– BUSINESS OFFICE

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant in the Business Office.  This is a full-time exempt position which reports directly to the Vice President for Finance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct administrative support to the VP for Finance such as: answer and respond to telephone calls, handle photo copying, faxing, preparing forms, scheduling appointments, typing correspondence, and filing, etc.
  • Receive, open and distribute mail picked up from mail room for Business Office.
  • Provide assistance to students and other visitors to the Business Office.
  • Schedule reservations for use of the Pelletier Creek House, as well as handle all logistics related to the rental and upkeep of the property.
  • Maintain all Outside Trusts / Life Income files including the processing of regular payments to annuitants, the year-end reporting of taxable and non-taxable disbursements, the coordination of tax forms with local CPA firm, and the coordination of all investment activities with local investment advisor.
  • Maintain records on all UMO owned vehicles and handle all logistics including: accident reports and follow up for insurance purposes, coordination of repairs to damaged vehicles, maintaining log of authorized drives (students, staff and faculty), organizing semi-annual van driving course, preparation of DOT report for all buses, and maintaining current information on authorized gas credit card users.
  • Maintain all property and liability insurance records and act as main contact with the insurance broker in all phases of insurance requests (including annual renewal).
  • Maintain all office equipment lease agreements and maintenance agreements on copiers/scanners/printers and process all invoicing related.
  • Provide Notary services for various purposes, such as: legal forms for Student Accounts, vehicle/title forms, transfer titles, deeds, trusts, banking and investment documents, etc.
  • Use Power CAMPUS (student information system) to assist students with their accounts, including the receipt and posting of payments.
  • Provide assistance to mail room clerk when needed.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with weekly check run by obtaining signed checks, separating checks and matching up with invoices, stuffing envelopes, and then delivering checks to mail room for mailing.
  • Work closely with the Building & Grounds department and provide necessary assistance.
  • Perform various analysis and research as requested by VP for Finance and any directly reporting offices.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

BUS DRIVER

 GENERAL LABORERS – SEASONAL

The University of Mount Olive has 3 openings for part – time General Laborers. Employment in these positions will not exceed 4-months. The ideal candidates will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely. These positions do not offer employee benefits.

  • Perform a variety of landscape maintenance duties to include watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, renovating and fertilizing lawns
