Residence Life
At the University of Mount Olive, we strive to provide our students with a healthy living and learning experience during their stay on campus. We encourage all students to experience on-campus living and to take advantage of the numerous social and educational opportunities provided to them. We believe that interactions with other students and staff will promote decision-making skills and personal responsibility, as well as develop other character traits that will help you become a well-rounded member of society.
There are numerous individuals and campus officers who collaborate to ensure you have the best experience available to you. Our hope is that you make the University of Mount Olive your home away from home!
Meet our residence life staff!
Living in the residence halls will help you learn to deal with new situations. Whether it’s learning to live with a roommate, confronting noisy neighbors, or dealing with exposure to new things, you may need support and assistance from time to time if you are going to get the most out of your on-campus experience.
Get to know these individuals when you move on campus, as they work in the residence halls to assist University of Mount Olive students in making a positive transition to college.
Resident Assistants
These individuals are upper-class students who are committed to making your on-campus experience a meaningful one. These students have gone through an interview process and have been trained on topics related to event planning, policy enforcement, roommate conflict and mediation, crisis situations, and a wide variety of other topics.
Resident assistants live in the halls with you to assist with your transition to college, encourage campus involvement, coordinate social and educational events, provide support to students who are having personal or academic difficulties, and various other matters. Make sure you get to know your RA, as they will relay important information to you throughout the academic year.
Assistant Directors of Campus Life
These individuals are full-time professionals who have a master’s degree in higher education and work in the Office of Student Affairs. They are live-in professionals who coordinate and assist operations in the residence halls and other areas of campus life, including RA training, the on-call duty rotation, visitation, student activities, student conduct, and various other areas closely related to residence life.
Other Staff
Each residential complex has a housekeeper assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Department of the University of Mount Olive. Housekeeping is responsible for the general care of community areas, which includes bathrooms and lobbies. The housekeepers do not clean individual rooms or anything outside the normal usage of the buildings, such as vandalism.
Campus Safety is responsible for the general well-being of the campus community. Project ID is one of the programs of Campus Safety, allowing residents to register their belongings in case of theft. Campus safety officers also patrol the campus 24 hours a day/365 days a year, enforce university policies, offer support in crisis situations and issue tickets for parking violations.
Sodexo provides delicious meal options for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Various menu options are available daily.
