Writing Center

Making Better Writers

The University of Mount Olive Writing Center coaches students that better writing happens through practice. We do this through one-on-one teaching and guidance within a comfortable, judgement-free, and inviting space. Our overall aim is to produce stronger, more capable writers so that UMO students can more confidently produce audience-driven academic and work-related writing. The Writing Center also dedicates its time and space to build community within UMO as well as the community at large through our programming, resources, and partnerships.

Some of the elements of writing with which coaches provide assistance are organization, citation and citation formats, research tips, thesis development, punctuation, and grammar.
