DAYTIME DEGREE PROGRAMS: BUSINESS ANALYTICS AT UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT OLIVE
Analytics is the systematic analysis of data, both quantitative and qualitative. The results from analytics support organizations with decision making, diagnosis and discovery, particularly in the area of “Big Data”. Some specific areas where analytics is useful include discovering market trends, investigating product placement, providing quality assurance, creating text document classification, and assisting in forensics. This program has an emphasis on using SAS Enterprise Miner which can lead the student to taking the SAS certification exams. Completion of some of these exams can be great resume enhancers for the analytics professional.
As an Analytics major, some of the topics that will be studied include:
- Basic data preparation and analysis
- Data reduction and visualization
- Predictive modeling
- Text mining and analytics
- Quality management and analytics
