Accounting

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a 9 1/2 -month, full time, Accounting Faculty position. The Tillman School of Business (TSB) undergraduate traditional program in Accounting is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Accounting is one of several areas that compose the business core in TSB. Accounting courses are taught in the following formats: Traditional seated and non-traditional online (graduate and undergraduate).

Position Description:
Preference will be given to applicants that have qualifications that enable them to teach in areas of financial and managerial accounting, intermediate, tax, auditing and governmental.  In addition, experience and/or certifications that allow application of data analytics and problem-solving skills in the areas of cybersecurity and/or forensic accounting is desired. The ideal candidate will be interested in research as well as applying what he/she teaches. Responsibilities include teaching a combination of undergraduate and graduate MBA courses in accounting and related subject areas, four courses in fall and spring semesters, respectively. Faculty are required to be contributing members of the department, business school and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Accounting or Master of Science in Accounting in addition to a CPA license. Degree(s) must be from regionally accredited institution(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or DBA in accounting or related field.
  • Industry/professional experience strongly preferred.

Director of Counseling Services

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a Director of Counseling Services.

Reporting to the Director of Health Services, the qualified candidate for this full-time, twelve-month position will be responsible for providing individual mental health counseling services to college students with personal concerns, training students/faculty/staff who work directly with and/or supervise students, consulting with faculty, staff, parents and students, and providing psychological assessment and crisis intervention, as appropriate.

Duties include Monday through Friday operation of all counseling service hours. Assessment and treatment and/or referrals are performed for full-time, traditional students. The Director should be aware of referral options and insurance standards. A knowledge of health options for the uninsured is beneficial. The office will maintain accurate and confidential records by both HIPPA and FERPA standards. This position will also provide administrative assistance to the Director of Health Services and support in maintaining the daily health center operations.

The position is expected to play a key role in strengthening linkages between University, other departments and divisions through the coordination of services and activities in support of holistic mental health of the students. The director interfaces with senior administration and faculty and collaborates with other internal and external partners including students, student groups, parents, university departments, and community agencies to bridge the various dimensions of mental health inside and outside of the classroom. The director also plays a pivotal role in providing support to university administrators during crisis management and emergency operations. The position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

The position requires knowledge of basic software, but knowledge of NCIR or specialized medical software like SportWare is a benefit.

Flight Instructor

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a part-time Flight Instructor. The Flight Instructor must be an energetic professional with the passion to deliver quality instruction. This Flight Instructor must also maintain a high level of performance standards, with a focus on a safe environment and exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching students how to fly in a variety of settings using methods that include textbook education, simulators and live flight training.
  • Responsible for training students in subjects such as aircraft systems, operating procedures, handling emergencies, problem analysis, aircraft navigation, radio operation and aerodynamics.
  • Use ground-school classes both to teach students the basics of flying an aircraft and to help them prepare for the written test they can expect to face when applying for their pilot’s license from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • Provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with Part 61 and 141, FAA regulations, Airmen’s Information Manual, advisory circulars, airport operations, and University policies and procedures. Schedule students, maintain records, and ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student in each flight course.
  • Contact and meet with potential new customers. Conduct tours of facilities and familiarize customers with University policies, procedures, and flight training courses.
  • Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of safety program.
  • Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training record, student logbook, and computer records.
  • Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork.
  • Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform appropriate personnel of any questionable items.
  • Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Position requires FAA certification as CFI (Certified Flight Instructor); CFII (Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument) and MEI (Multi-Engine Instructor) certifications are a plus.
  • Preferred to have some experience in flight training as a flight instructor and evaluator.
  • Must hold a current Second Class FAA Medical Certificate.
