TILLMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

ACCOUNTING

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, faculty position in Accounting to begin August 1, 2018. The Accounting program is based at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses and in the online MBA program.

This position is responsible for teaching in both the traditional and non-traditional (adult student) programs supplemented with online activities. Additional expectations include maintaining office hours, academic advising, participating in ACBSP program assessment and related course development.

BUSINESS POLICY AND STRATEGY

The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, Business Strategy Faculty. The Tillman School of Business (TSB) undergraduate programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Business Policy and Strategy is one of several areas that compose the business core in TSB. Strategy courses are taught online and at the main campus in Mount Olive, NC with courses offered at seven regional campuses, as well as in the MBA program.

The ideal candidate will have a primary emphasis in strategic management with analytics or international business as a secondary area. Teaching will primarily focus on undergraduate and/or graduate-level business management courses related to strategy. Expectations of candidates are the following: to participate in curricula activities, program assessment, student advising, co-curricular support, and engage in scholarship and institutional service. Teaching strategy capstone courses in the MBA program will be a top priority.

Minimum Qualifications:

 HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT

 The University of Mount Olive, Tillman School of Business (TSB) invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, Healthcare Management (HCM) Faculty to begin August 1, 2016. The HCM program is recognized by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The program has approximately 1000 graduates to date and includes more than 300 currently enrolled students. ALLIED FACULTY

The Tillman School of Business (TSB) at the University of Mount Olive invites applications for contracted allied faculty positions teaching in multiple areas of the TSB, two to six classes per year.

The individuals hired for these positions shall have qualifications related to (and an interest in) one of the TSB undergraduate or graduate level programs to include; Accounting, Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and the Management of Computer Information Systems.

Teaching assignments will typically include evening classes at one or more of the regional campuses across eastern North Carolina or online relying on Moodle as the LMS. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of courses and advising.

The University of Mount Olive employs Full-time Faculty, primarily based at the main campus at Mount Olive, Allied Faculty based across the region, and Adjunct Faculty who teach individual courses on an as needed basis, also located across the region. Allied faculty are contracted for services on an annual basis with a defined course load and other duties as assigned depending on the needs of the school and the availability/capability of the faculty. Allied faculty are considered members of the faculty and can pursue promotion in rank based on the guidelines found in the faculty handbook.

The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at the University of Mount Olive seeks to fill a position in the area of Environmental Science and Biology at the instructor or assistant professor level.  The position will be full-time, 9-month beginning August of 2018. CO-DIVISION CHAIR- EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

The University of Mount Olive invites applications for the position of Co-Division Chair for our Education program. This position will transition to full division chair within a one-year period.  This position is a full-time, 12-month faculty position with an administrative stipend that will begin in August, 2018.  Requirements include the ability to teach 15 faculty load hours for the academic year, while serving as the Division Chair for Education.   Candidates should be able to teach at the Graduate and Undergraduate level.

The UMO Education Program is a dynamic program that offers teacher licensure in ten undergraduate and three graduate disciplines. The ten discipline areas are Agriculture, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, English, Music, Science, Elementary, Early Childhood, Special Education and Mathematics.  We are seeking a visionary leader who is able to teach coursework in the areas of pedagogy, classroom management, reading and leadership.  Additionally, this person should be able to work as a liaison with the Department of Public Instruction and with local school districts.  Previous experience in Leadership/Management is required.

As Division Chair, responsibilities include leading the program, ensuring licensure requirements are met through the Department of Public Instruction, staffing of courses, hiring and training faculty, as well continual assessment of the curriculum. The Division Chair credentials all faculty and adjuncts.  Our Early Childhood Education program is offered to adult learners at all seven UMO locations.   Additionally, we offer a graduate M.Ed. program in the areas of Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

The Department of Psychology at the University of Mount Olive seeks applications for an Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology to join our faculty at the main campus in Mount Olive, North Carolina. ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MULTIPLE FACULTY POSITIONS IN THE AGRICULTURE DIVISION

The University of Mount Olive Agriculture Division is seeking qualified candidates for full faculty teaching positions in multiple disciplines.  These positions are focused on teaching, but support is provided for faculty interest in research, and extension programming. Faculty will be involved in recruitment and be instrumental in the development of the student research farm. Candidates are being sought in the disciplines of Animal Science, Agricultural Education, Agribusiness, Environmental Science, Horticulture, Plant/Crop Science, Soil Science or related disciplines. An earned Master’s Degree in the specified disciplines is required however a Doctoral Degree is preferred.

The University of Mount Olive is located in Wayne County in eastern North Carolina. The University is one hour east of Raleigh, the state capital, and one hour west of Wilmington, a bustling coastal community. Mount Olive is positioned in the heart of the agriculture industry, the number one industry in NC. DIRECTOR, TEACHING EXCELLENCE CENTER

 The University of Mount Olive invites applications for Director of the University’s Teaching Excellence Center. Funded by a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant, this newly created position will lead the development, oversight, and scheduling of the new Teaching Excellence Center and provide high-quality and meaningful professional development activities for faculty in pedagogy and instructional technology.

 The successful candidate’s career path will demonstrate faculty development leadership experience pertaining to pedagogy and instructional technology; teaching/project management experience; and a proven record of effective team-building and motivating faculty. ADMINISTRATIVE  ASSISTANT– BUSINESS OFFICE

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant in the Business Office.  This is a full-time exempt position which reports directly to the Vice President for Finance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct administrative support to the VP for Finance such as: answer and respond to telephone calls, handle photo copying, faxing, preparing forms, scheduling appointments, typing correspondence, and filing, etc.
  • Receive, open and distribute mail picked up from mail room for Business Office.
  • Provide assistance to students and other visitors to the Business Office.
  • Schedule reservations for use of the Pelletier Creek House, as well as handle all logistics related to the rental and upkeep of the property.
  • Maintain all Outside Trusts / Life Income files including the processing of regular payments to annuitants, the year-end reporting of taxable and non-taxable disbursements, the coordination of tax forms with local CPA firm, and the coordination of all investment activities with local investment advisor.
  • Maintain records on all UMO owned vehicles and handle all logistics including: accident reports and follow up for insurance purposes, coordination of repairs to damaged vehicles, maintaining log of authorized drives (students, staff and faculty), organizing semi-annual van driving course, preparation of DOT report for all buses, and maintaining current information on authorized gas credit card users.
  • Maintain all property and liability insurance records and act as main contact with the insurance broker in all phases of insurance requests (including annual renewal).
  • Maintain all office equipment lease agreements and maintenance agreements on copiers/scanners/printers and process all invoicing related.
  • Provide Notary services for various purposes, such as: legal forms for Student Accounts, vehicle/title forms, transfer titles, deeds, trusts, banking and investment documents, etc.
  • Use Power CAMPUS (student information system) to assist students with their accounts, including the receipt and posting of payments.
  • Provide assistance to mail room clerk when needed.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with weekly check run by obtaining signed checks, separating checks and matching up with invoices, stuffing envelopes, and then delivering checks to mail room for mailing.
  • Work closely with the Building & Grounds department and provide necessary assistance.

SENIOR ADVISOR

University of Mount Olive at the New Bern location has an immediate opening for a Senior Advisor.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Acts as the primary contact for student financial aid inquiries as well as academic advising inquiries.
  • Act as a liaison to Financial Aid Department and the Registrar’s Office.
  • Responds to all phone calls, emails and other correspondence timely and accurately, completing any research necessary to address a student’s concerns and make appointments as needed
  • Informs prospective students about their academic status following evaluation of transcripts and update student record in college database.
  • Provides advisement and registration support to students regarding classes (or other options such as ELC and CLEP/DSST) needed to obtain a degree in a chosen curriculum.
  • Assesses, prepares, and distributes completed curriculum evaluation sheets. Coordinates with the Registrar’s Office to ensure all available credit is awarded to students and recorded on both the Curriculum Evaluation Sheet and Academic Plan (Academic Plan must be activated once final approval from the Registrar’s Office has been received).
  • Prepares and receives graduation materials such as applications, confirm graduation status, certify candidates for graduation and be present for all Commencement programs for duties as assigned by the Registrar.
  • Processes all necessary paperwork to maintain an accurate record on each student and provide appropriate data to Registrar’s office.
  • Maintains knowledge of ACE (American Council on Education) guides to educational credit for training programs and other accredited options for earning credit in the modular programs.
  • Maintains contact with Assistant Registrar for Non-Traditional Students relating to GER requirements and other issues as advised by location Director.
  • Maintains student attendance records for appropriate programs and make contact with those students who are missing classes.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional, VA, federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Coordinates with FA Technicians to answer student questions and determine processing timelines.
  • Upon review of financial aid packages and required documents, counsels and advises applicants on financial aid options, award packages, cost, and financial obligations.
  • Collects and forwards any submitted FA documents to the UMO Financial Aid office (using the approved method(s)) assure timely processing.
  • Acts as the certifying VA official for the designated campus, coordinating with the VA certifying official in Mount Olive when applicable or necessary.
  • Creates and maintains VA files and acts as the liaison for students and the VA.
  • Certifies VA charges and account disbursement.
  • Coordinates FAFSA Day (Week) and other informational sessions at the designated location at least once per semester.
  • Completes the social services form and consortium agreements for students.
  • Assists students, when requested, with the completion of the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note.
  • Participates in the planning processes for the collection of long-term and short-term College student debts, which includes compliance with College policies Federal Financial Aid Title IV Regulations, Federal and State law.
  • Attends and/or represents the College in meetings and conferences regarding the collection of current and delinquent student debt, Financial Aid, and VA.
  • Prepares and reviews student financial accounts including charges, payments and collections, error detection and correction, authorizing cancellation of charges, and placing/releasing holds on student transcripts and student accounts when necessary.
  • Responds to billing inquiries through explanation of applicable college policies, federal and state laws.
  • Maintains accuracy and consistency in review of accounts to achieve successful collection of debts and when necessary, administers Refund Policy.
  • Manages third party billing and tuition payment for student accounts.
  • Collects payments to include but not limited to confirmation fees, graduation fees, and payment on accounts. Post payments into Power Campus and prepare bank deposits.

WRITING CENTER DIRECTOR

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full-time Writing Center Director.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and facilitate writing workshops, class presentations, and programs to engage students and faculty around best writing practices
  • Develop individual success writing plans in collaboration with faculty members to support student success and increase retention and graduation rates.

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES – HOUSING COORDINATOR

The Director of Student Activities is a full time, twelve month live-in position that will serve as the director for campus programming. The director will be responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for campus life programming integrating academic, athletic and the other co-curricular areas. The professional in this position will continue a tradition of planning a robust student activity schedule, manage the student activity fund and supervise the campus activity board (CAB) that has more than 20 student members. The university has worked hard to invest resources in this area on campus and we have experienced great program planning initiatives with high levels of student participation. University of Mount Olive is committed to continuing this high level of commitment to student activity programming on campus.

In addition to the student activities director responsibilities, this professional will oversee a residential area of 3 residence halls (approximately 200 students) and supervise 5 to 8 resident assistants. Responsibilities will include staff training, conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and the implementation of residence hall programming designed to complement the goals of the residence life program and mission of the University. This live in position will require flexible hours, a team building attitude and a sincere desire to work with students in a private liberal arts college environment.

Master’s degree in a related field required. Supervisory experience and extensive experience in student activity programming, residential living, either as a graduate student or full time employee are required. Experience with student activity planning, club and organization advising, residence life management, RA selection, and supervision of students is preferred.
