Braswell Lecture featuring Dr. Maria Pitre-Martin

Dr. Maria Pitre-Martin serves as one of the Deputy State Superintendents for the NC Department of
Public Instruction. Her extensive career has included service as Chief Academic and Digital Learning
Officer at NCDPI; Superintendent of Schools for the Thomasville City School District; State Director
of K-12 Curriculum and Instruction for the NC Department of Public Instruction; Chief Academic
Officer for the School District of Philadelphia; Assistant Superintendent for the East Baton Rouge
Parish; and Director of Research and Staff Development for the Fort Bend Independent School District
in Sugar Land, Texas. Dr. Pitre-Martin, a Broad Superintendents Academy Fellow, holds a doctorate of
philosophy in educational administration from Texas A&M University.
