Admissions Representative – Non Trad


The University of Mount Olive has an opening for an Admissions Representative. This is a hybrid remote position, which will require the successful candidate to work at the main campus 1-2 days per week.

The Admissions Representative is responsible for (a) enrolling appropriate students in University offerings, (b) creating a distinctively positive enrollment experience for all prospective students, (c) setting and modeling high service standards for timeliness and helpfulness and (d) maintaining detailed records and ensuring accurate data management. This involves identifying the prospective student’s goals, objections, and any obstacles that may prevent their academic success, articulating a response to them that addresses these, assisting them through the point of matriculation, and finally, ensuring a smooth hand-off to the advising unit after the student starts classes.

Responsibilities include:

– Respond to new inquiries within the specified time frame.
– Advance prospective students through the stages of enrollment.
– Construct genuine relationships with prospective students.
– Complete the application files of assigned prospective students.
– Admit appropriate students according to relevant guidelines.
– Confirm payment arrangements for assigned students’ first term and assist students with the financial aid process.
– Handoff the student relationship to the assigned Academic Advisor after a specified period.

– Direct sales. Employ a consultative, relationship-building sales approach in interactions with prospective learners.
– Organization & attention to detail. Record all interactions with prospective students in the designated system and track all documents.
– Interpersonal skills. Build rapport with prospective students through an extended sales cycle using telephone, e-mail, Zoom, and other personal communications.
– Resourcefulness. Draw on the full resources of the university in advocacy for prospective students and enrolled learners.
– Knowledge management. Develop an in-depth knowledge of the university’s offerings and their distinguishing characteristics; exhibit a consistent proactive tendency to share and draw upon best practices; and contribute constructively to process refinement.
– Persistence. Demonstrate tenacity in follow-through with assigned prospective students.

Universal Competencies:

  • Integrity. Possess exemplary personal integrity, demonstrated in an ability to set accurate expectations for prospective students.
  • Computer literacy. Possess proficiency in common personal productivity, network applications, and database systems. Experience with a CRM is a plus.
  • Writing skills. Be able to generate professional correspondence via e-mail and letters.
  • Organization/Administration skills. Be able to follow detailed administrative processes for data management and record-keeping.
  • Flexibility. Be able to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment with a wide variety of people.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication and computer skills, and the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
