Description

The Tillman School of Business is seeking applicants for a full-time (9.5 month) cybersecurity and applied computer science faculty position beginning Fall 2023 (August 1, 2023 start date). The desired candidate should have qualifications enabling them to teach undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, management information systems, and computer science. Candidates ideally will have professional experience in addition to academic experience in these areas. In addition to highly effective teaching and advising, faculty members work with students through the cybersecurity club or other student related activities/organizations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses delivered in both seated and online formats. Candidates should demonstrate success as an instructor in the application of innovative and hands on teaching techniques. Applicants ideally will possess experience and/or certificates that allow the application of principles and theories related to the field of study. Candidates will be encouraged to network with local businesses and organizations to establish internship opportunities for students. The ideal candidate will commit to the mission of the Tillman School of Business and the University of Mount Olive Covenant. The candidate will participate in Tillman School of Business activities including collegiate events, service to the university, and community involvement.

Qualifications

While a Ph.D. is preferred, candidates must have a master’s degree in cybersecurity and/or computer science or a closely related field with professional experience in at least one of these disciplines. Applicants should be able to teach courses at the undergraduate level in cybersecurity, information and network security, ethical hacking, and IT risk management. To be credentialed an individual must possess at least 18 graduate hours in cybersecurity, computer science, or have professional work experience that justifies adequate knowledge of the subject matter.
