Description

The University of Mount is seeking the position of Dean to provide innovative and visionary leadership to a growing and dynamic School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences. This is a full-time, exempt position, with the responsibility to lead and manage the academic programs, faculty, and staff housed within the School.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for providing leadership and management of academic programs.
  • Developing and promoting curricula to non-traditional, online, and traditional student populations.
  • Advocating and developing support for academic programs, collegiate clubs, and academic outreach opportunities.
  • Evidence of ability to provide development and maintenance funding of academic support facilities and campuses.
  • Ensuring all SABS programs are adhering to University approved timelines for program review and assessment.
  • Providing visionary leadership for the development of academic programs to meet the demands of 21st-century careers.
  • Fostering an environment for faculty, staff, and students in which service, scholarly work, academic excellence, and creativity are expected and valued.
  • Working collaboratively with the Agribusiness Center and other University support units to promote the School and University.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as required to meet the needs of the University and the School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree (PhD, or EdD) required with a focus in agriculture, agricultural education, extension, life sciences, or higher education leadership in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of administrative experience at the Dean, Division, or Department Chair level in higher education.
  • Previous demonstration of visionary leadership and innovation in curriculum development and programming.
  • Previous demonstration successful teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Previous demonstration of development potential to support academic programming and expansion
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with constituents both internally and externally.
