The Master of Business Administration: Accounting degree is designed for those wanting to expand their knowledge regarding accounting concepts or pursue a career in the accounting profession.  Upon completion of the MBA: Accounting degree program, students will be qualified to sit for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam and eventually obtain their CPA license.  In addition to helping students’ prepare for the CPA exam, the program also assists in preparing for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) exam, and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) exam.

No GMAT or GRE are required.

Unlike programs that are focused only on accounting, the University of Mount Olive’s MBA: Accounting program offers the flexibility of a multidisciplinary degree delivered by faculty who are seasoned educators and boast extensive experience in their respective industries.  The program is designed for students to master accounting concepts while at the same time preparing them for a variety of certification exams.  By specializing in the accounting field, students increase their career opportunities by obtaining expertise in monetary business concepts.

Upon graduation, students will have extensive skills in assembling and analyzing financial statements, executing complicated formulas and functions in Microsoft Excel, instituting strategic tax planning concepts, and consulting businesses from a financial perspective.

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 3.0 GPA. 2.5-3.0 will be considered with the submission of a personal statement. Official transcript required.

Internships are not required as part of the degree program, but heavily encouraged.  Internships are especially encouraged for those who have yet to work in the accounting profession.  The Tillman School of Business has a designated internship coordinator who specializes in assisting students with the application process, resume preparation, and interview skills.
