SJAFB Topic of Business at University of Mount Olive College
MOUNT OLIVE — University of Mount Olive and the Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce are partnering to present a Business at Breakfast session on February 24, 2010. The Breakfast will be held at 7:30 AM in the Hennessee Room of the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center at University of Mount Olive.
The topic will be Seymour Johnson Air Force Base – its mission, its economic impact on Wayne County, its ongoing expansion, and updates to the base’s infrastructure. The speaker will be Major Michael Maeder, Commander of the F-15E Demonstration Team.
Major Maeder received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Florida and is pursuing a master’s degree in military operational art and science from Air University. He received his wings in January of 2000 and was selected to serve in the initial cadre of T-6A instructor pilots at Moody AFB, Georgia in June 2001. During 2005 and 2006 he participated in two deployments to Southwest Asia, and since February 2007 Major Maeder has been assigned as an Instructor Pilot to the 333rd Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base training the next crop of F-15E Fighter Pilots and WSOs. He has been attached to the Strike Eagle Demonstration Team since January 2008 and has over 2500 hours flying time in military aircraft. Of those, he has over 1100 hours in the F-15E, to include 564 combat hours.
