UMO Students Visit Durham Bulls

Over the past six years, Dr. Tony Franklin, Associate Professor of Sports Management (RLS Department), has coordinated an immersive educational experience with the three-time Milb AAA National Champion Durham Bulls and Bulls Assistant General Manager of Operations Scott Strickland.

Strickland has excelled with the professional baseball organization for over 19 years and is one of the top sports executives in the country.  “His comprehensive sport management discussions covering multiple facets of the entire operation are outstanding,” said Franklin.

Students toured the award winning multimillion dollar DPAB (Durham Bulls Athletic Park), and visited with Will Bender, a UMO sport management alumnus and former UMO Lacrosse player, who is on the professional operations staff of the Bulls.

“This student networking experience connects academic theoretical concepts with practical applications vital for success in the multi-faceted sports management realm,” said Franklin.
