MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The University of Mount Olive (UMO) will celebrate the art of clay and community connection with its Third Annual Ceramics Show on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1 to 6 PM in the Teresa Pelt Grubbs Art Gallery inside Laughinghouse Hall, 500 Herring Drive, Mount Olive.

The event, held in conjunction with UMO’s Homecoming & Pickle Classic Weekend, will feature a gallery exhibition and sale of pottery by Mary Ann Barwick of Calypso and Frank Grubbs, UMO Instructor of Ceramic Art. A reception and artists’ demonstrations will take place from 1 to 3 PM, offering guests the opportunity to interact with the artists and gain a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process.

Pottery purchases can be made throughout the afternoon, with pick-up available during show hours.

In preparation for the main event, the show will be installed on Tuesday, November 18, and the gallery will be open to the UMO family and friends on Wednesday and Thursday, leading up to Saturday’s public reception.

“Each year, this show grows in excitement and participation,” said Grubbs. “It’s wonderful to share the joy of clay with both the UMO community and our neighbors, especially during Homecoming, which brings so many alumni and friends back to campus.”

The Third Annual UMO Ceramics Show is free and open to the public.  For more information about the Ceramics Show and UMO Homecoming Weekend events, visit www.umo.edu/homecoming.
