Washington County Student Receives Award at University of Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE- Amber Jackson of Roper was recognized as the 2012 Alumni Student of the Year Award at University of Mount Olive’s annual awards ceremony.  Jackson, a senior religion major, is the daughter of Ted and Lynn S. Norman, and the granddaughter of Talbert and Dot Jackson and Priscilla Sexton.

The University of Mount Olive Alumni Association presents the award to a student who is an active member of the Undergraduate Alumni Association who has shown the qualities of a potentially faithful MOC alumni.

Jackson served as chair of this year’s Chocolate Craze reception.  She has volunteered with the Winter Glitz dinner auction for the past three years.  The recipient also helped with the FWB Children’s Home donation drive.  She is a youth intern at First Baptist Church in Mount Olive.  Included in her busy schedule is a night position with the University of Mount Olive Admissions Department and participation in Campus Ministries.  Jackson is a first generation college student
