President’s Welcome

Dear Friends,

I am as excited about the future of the University of Mount Olive as I have been during my tenure as President.  We have overcome the challenges of the early 2000s and are positioned  to truly serve the educational needs of our many types of students.  Over 70 years ago, our University was founded on Biblical teachings as understood by the Original Free Will Baptist Church.  The Christian foundation combined with the virtues listed and explained in our Covenant continue to be the core of who we are.

Originally, the University served students primarily local to eastern NC.  Over the past several years, our footprint has spread nationally with courses taught both on campus and online.  It has been a pleasure to get to know many of our students personally, which is what makes us special.  Students who attend the University of Mount Olive find themselves studying in an environment large enough to offer a wide array of programs, yet small enough to provide a personal experience.

Serving as President is extra special for me as many of my family members, including a son, sister, and nephew, all received their education here and have excelled in their professional lives.  Our faculty and staff understand and believe that it is privilege to provide students with a transformational education that prepares them for lives of leadership and service.

Our motto is to focus, dream, and serve.  We believe that each day should begin by focusing on the important matters at hand and dreaming of what might be.  If our focus on daily living and dreaming of the future is embedded with serving mankind, then I am confident that we will hear the words, “well done my good and faithful servant.”

I invite you to become a part of our Trojan family.

Sincerely,
Edward Croom, Ed.D.
President
