Wilson County Student Receives Award at MOC
MOUNT OLIVE – Yocelyn Garnica of Wilson received The Sophia H. Potts English Award at University of Mount Olive’s Annual Awards Ceremony. Garnica is a freshman biology major.
The Sophia H. Potts English Award is a scholarship established in 1983 by Dr. James Alton Cowan in memory of his teacher Sophia H. Potts (1908—1982), who taught English and speech at University of Mount Olive from 1956—1959. The award is given to a rising sophomore selected by the English faculty for excellence in writing.
