Associate of Science in General Studies (ASGS) Degree (Pre-Nursing Focus)

The University of Mount Olive (UMO) Associate of Science in General Studies: Pre-Nursing degree represents a pathway into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program, which prepares you for a career as a Registered Nurse (RN). This pre-nursing degree includes all of the standard pre-requisite courses needed to apply to a BSN degree program (60 sh) including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, history, literature, humanities, etc. The  pre-nursing track takes four semesters (freshmen and sophomore years) and upon completion, with the requisite minimum GPA and other admission requirements met, you could apply to a BSN degree program and potentially be accepted as a junior.

Our ASGS pre-nursing degree, which covers the arts, sciences, and humanities, offers our students a broad education, while helping our students develop skills that can be applied in a wide variety of baccalaureate opportunities in keeping with our university’s liberal arts tradition.

Anyone accepted into UMO can attain the ASGS pre-nursing degree; however, acceptance into a BSN degree program is not guaranteed.
