ROTC

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) develops leaders of character for the United States Air Force and Space Force. The AFROTC program is available for University of Mount Olive students through a cross-town agreement with East Carolina University, Detachment 600, and the United States Air Force.

Time Commitment

Years 1 & 2
5–7 hrs / week

Foundation Phase

  • Physical training sessions
  • One hour of lecture per week
  • Two hours of leadership labs at ECU (Wednesdays)
  • Expect to be away from UMO campus most of each Wednesday
  • Student-athletes: PT counts toward athletic participation
Years 3 & 4
Up to 10 hrs / week

Professional Officer Course

  • Physical training sessions
  • Class and leadership lab time at ECU (Wednesdays)
  • Compete for a slot to attend field training
  • Expect to be away from UMO campus most of each Wednesday
Years 3 & 4 are optional. After completing the first two years, students may choose to continue and compete for the Professional Officer Course and field training.
