Nursing:  Professional Licensure Disclosure

The University of Mount Olive’s (UMO’s) AS in General Studies (Pre-Nursing), BS Nursing (Prelicensure BSN), Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree tracks: (a) Nursing Education, (b) Nursing Administration, and (c) the dual concentration in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration, do not require approval by the North Carolina (NC) Board of Nursing (BON). All of the students enrolled in our RN to BSN or MSN degree programs already hold active, unencumbered RN licenses that the state of NC will recognize through the Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC), which facilitates the mobility of RNs among the states.

To meet federal disclosure regulations under 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v), UMO must provide information to students indicating whether completion of one of these programs meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in each U.S. state and territory. We review state licensure requirements periodically and, as we become aware of changes, we update this information accordingly. However, because state licensure requirements can change at any time, we encourage individuals to review their state’s licensure requirements regularly. Although there may be additional requirements applicable to individual states, the Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC) agreement makes it possible for individuals who have completed an approved pre-licensure nursing program to obtain a RN license in another participating state, which guarantees full licensure with any eNLC state.

According to eNLC, the following states have joined the compact and therefore an active and unencumbered North Carolina license will give the nurse the ability to practice. Completion of any of the following UMO programs (BS Nursing (Prelicensure BSN), Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)) along with an active and unencumbered NC license meets the requirements for the following states:
