MOUNT OLIVE — Three University of Mount Olive students participated in the 71st Annual Future Business Leaders of America – Collegiate (FBLA-C) State Leadership Conference held March 26–29, 2025, in Charlotte, NC.

Representing UMO were Chapter President Sierra Krieger, a senior from Goldsboro, NC; Chapter Vice President Campbell Buehl, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, VA; and Diontae’ Smith, a senior from Dunn, NC. This was the first year of FBLA-C membership and conference participation for each student.

Buehl earned second place in the Foundations of Selling event and placed fourth in Impromptu Speaking. Smith placed sixth in two events: Foundations of Marketing and Foundations of Communications.

In addition to competing, the students attended leadership workshops, participated in networking sessions, and gained experience in a professional conference setting.

“The FBLA students have done fantastic work this academic year, including fundraising to attend the State Leadership Conference and service,” said Dr. Norm Crumpacker, Associate Professor of Management and faculty advisor. “Working with a group of passionate leaders is truly a pleasure.”

The students’ involvement in FBLA-C and their performance at the state conference reflect UMO’s continued emphasis on leadership development and professional preparation.
