MOUNT OLIVE — A group of ninth-grade students from Harrell’s Christian Academy recently spent a half day at the University of Mount Olive exploring academic opportunities, campus life, and some of the University’s unique hands-on learning programs.

The visit offered the students an opportunity to experience a variety of areas across campus while gaining a closer look at what college life can offer. Their tour included stops at several key locations, including the University’s main campus, the Kornegay Student Farm, and the University of Mount Olive Flight School at the Mount Olive Municipal Airport.

During the campus tour, students learned about the University’s academic programs, student life, and athletic opportunities available to future Trojans. Admissions staff also shared information about the University’s commitment to experiential learning, where students gain real-world experience alongside classroom instruction.

One of the highlights of the visit came at the Kornegay Student Farm, where students experienced the agricultural side of the University firsthand. They had the chance to see and even hold newborn baby goats, providing a memorable introduction to the hands-on learning that takes place within the University’s agriculture programs.

The group then traveled to the Mount Olive Municipal Airport to visit the University of Mount Olive Flight School. There, students saw several of the University’s training aircraft up close and learned about the aviation program and the growing demand for professional pilots and aviation industry professionals.

The visit offered students a glimpse into the many pathways available through higher education while allowing them to explore career possibilities in agriculture, aviation, athletics, and a wide range of academic disciplines.

The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The University was founded by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists. For more information, visit www.umo.edu.
