Devonshire Receives J. William Byrd Award
MOUNT OLIVE – Pikeville resident Joyce Devonshire, online coordinator at University of Mount Olive, has received the J. William Byrd Award for Staff Excellent. The award is given in honor of Dr. J. William Byrd, president emeritus of the College, and is a $3,000 cash award.
Devonshire has been with MOC since 2003. She has showcased exemplary qualities that her fellow employees have noticed over the years. Recipients for the J. William Byrd Award are recognized for their quality of work and ability to work as a team player. They must also demonstrate initiative and exemplify the College Mission.
A fellow MOC employee who nominated Devonshire had this to say about her:
“Since I started at University of Mount Olive, I have witnessed Joyce provide the best service to any who seeks aid from the IT Department. She is passionate, caring, giving, determined, honest and respectful. She cares for her fellow man and will give without hesitation to anyone she considers a friend. She is never complacent. She is always seeking a way to better assist the College and its patrons.”
