Fall 2021 Check-In Procedures

Fall 2021 Check-In Procedures

New Student Check-In

New student check-in will be on Saturday, August 21 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Upon arrival to campus on Saturday, August 21st, all students must report to the Pope Wellness Center during their scheduled time. Only students wearing masks will be allowed entrance into the facility for this process. Please ask your guests to remain in their vehicles or outside away from the Pope Wellness Center.  There, students will be required to complete one of the following to receive a clearance card to proceed with the check-in process:

  1. Submit proof of full vaccination (Completed vaccination shot series and post two week period); or
  2. Receive a rapid test administered by UMO; or
  3. Provide documentation from a physician that you have tested positive for COVID 19 within 90 days of arrival

Students that receive a positive test result on August 21 will be required to leave campus for the mandated isolation period. A university official will advise these students for how to proceed with online coursework and the next steps before leaving campus. We STRONGLY encourage students that are traveling from long distances to get a test within 24 hours of returning to campus. Students will still be tested once they arrive on campus but this will reduce unplanned travel issues.

Students will not be limited on who may accompany them for the check-in process (after you have cleared the COIVD health screening process in PWC) but please try to limit your number of guests to avoid additional exposure issues.

Returning Student Check-In Procedures

Returning resident students are REQUIRED to participate in the mandatory health screening process prior to moving into residence halls, attending seated classes, or entering any campus facility.

Upon arrival to campus on Monday, August 23rd, all students must report to the Pope Wellness Center between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Only students wearing masks will be allowed entrance into the facility for this process. Please ask your guests to remain in their vehicles or outside away from the Pope Wellness Center. There, students will be required to complete one of the following to receive a clearance card to proceed with the check-in process:

If you are unable to check-in during this time, we are extending an offer for early check-in on Sunday, August 22nd between 12:00pm-5:00pm. This early arrival will be available with a $25.00 cash or check fee upon arrival to campus. Sorry, we don’t have access to a card machine. We anticipate the number of students arriving early on Sunday to be a smaller group so this may be a more convenient option for you to consider. We ask that you please contact the Housing Office (Molly Kleman at mkleman@umo.edu) to notify them of your intentions to arrive on Sunday, August 22nd if you are choosing this option. Students choosing this option will need to report to the Health Services Office to complete the screening process (see above) before being allowed to check-in to the residence halls.

If neither of the above options work, you are required to check-in Tuesday, August 24th – Friday, August 27th from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM in Health Services. Once there, you will complete the health screening process before completing the rest of the check-in items. Students may not enter any campus facility including classrooms or residence halls prior to clearing the health screening process.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate check-ins outside of these operating hours. Students should make the appropriate plans and will need to secure off-campus accommodations if arriving outside of these times. Failure to complete the screening process before entering a campus facility will result in immediate removal from campus.

Returning commuter students are REQUIRED to participate in the mandatory health screening process prior to attending seated classes or entering any campus facility. For commuting students, we will use a surveillance method of testing.

Upon arrival to campus on Monday, August 23rd, all students must report to the Pope Wellness Center between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
