MOUNT OLIVE –On Tuesday, March 29, the University of Mount Olive community will come together for its annual Giving Day.
“Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising challenge that creates an opportunity to give back and make a difference,” said Anna Whitman Assistant Director of Annual Giving. “Gifts of all sizes help pave the way for our current and future students and ensures that they have the tools and resources necessary to achieve their goals.”
Through social challenges and good old-fashioned rivalry, participants will have the chance to support their favorite UMO passion, which could be academics, athletics, music, or any other area.
“I give back to the University of Mount Olive as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for the investment the University made in my life,” said George Futrell, a 2004 graduate and UMO Board of Trustee member. “It is also an opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ as an investment into the lives of others, the human capital of tomorrow.”
RJ Allen, a 2007 graduate of UMO, said, “I am living my career dream, all because UMO believed in me.” Allen, an educator for the past ten years, is a member of the UMO Alumni Association Board. In addition to himself, his wife and eldest daughter also graduated from UMO, and his youngest daughter is a current online student with the University. “UMO has helped my entire family achieve their dreams – that is why I give,” he said.
UMO Alumni Association President and 1974 graduate Gregg Paul stated, “The individual attention and investment of time that I received during my time at Mount Olive, has made a tremendous impact on who I am today. I want to help support UMO so others may continue to benefit in their careers and for years into the future.”
Individuals wanting to contribute to Giving Day 2022, can do so by visiting www.umo.edu/givingday, or by stopping by the Giving Day Headquarters between 10 AM and 3 PM located in the Hennessee Room of the Murphy Center. “Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and twitter at #GiveUMO,” concluded Whitman.
