Luis Miranda Named Director of UMO at New Bern
NEW BERN- The University of Mount Olive at New Bern will hold an Open House and Meet the Director Event on Tuesday, April 14, from 4 to 6 PM at 2912 Trent Road in New Bern.
University of Mount Olive Alumnus Luis Miranda has taken the helm as director of the University’s New Bern location. As an alumnus Miranda is excited to return to his alma mater to assist students in their pursuit of receiving a quality education.
Miranda was raised in Tampa, Florida and moved to Wayne County in 1998. He has called Eastern North Carolina home ever since. He currently resides in Goldsboro with his wife Brandy, and daughters, AnaLeigh and Ellisyn.
Miranda and his wife are both graduates of Spring Creek High School and were high school sweethearts. Miranda graduated from Mount Olive College as an Honor’s student, receiving his bachelor’s degree in religion in May of 2008. He then earned his master’s degree in management and leadership from Liberty University. He is the first person in his immediate family to attend and graduate college, and he is the only person in his immediate and extended family to receive a master’s degree.
“I am honored to be able to return to the University and help others achieve their goal of earning their education,” said Miranda.
Miranda is an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist Convention and is currently the senior pastor at Rivermont Baptist Church. Previously, he served as youth pastor at Rivermont Baptist Church, Seven Springs Baptist Church, and Deep Run First Baptist Church. In addition to these churches, Miranda served as youth coordinator for the Neuse Baptist Association.
Miranda’s educational and professional awards include the 2004 Gates Millennium scholarship, the 2004 Mount Olive College Honors scholarship, 2009 Sales Manager of the Year for U.S. Cellular, 2012 Dynamic Leader Award for U.S. Cellular, and the 2012 Dynamic Organization Award for U.S. Cellular.
