Meet the Coaches and Ribbon Cutting Events

The University of Mount Olive Athletics Department hosted the third annual Meet the Coaches dinner for current and prospective Trojan Club members. The dinner offered Trojan Club members and other

friends of the College the opportunity to meet with the MOC athletics coaches and staff.

The event, held in Kornegay Arena, started with an informal social, followed by welcome remarks by Director of External Relations for Athletics Dwayne McKay and Director of Athletics Jeff

Eisen. Trojanhead coaches introduced themselves and head men’s basketball coach Joey Higginbotham thanked the Trojan Club on behalf of the coaches.  Vice-President of Institutional Advancement John Blackwell provided the invocation.

The purpose of the Meet The Coaches is three-fold: to give coaches an opportunity to thank Trojan Club members for their support of MOC Athletics, to give Trojan Club members an opportunity to know the coaches outside of the field of play, and to give those in the local community an opportunity to join the Trojan Club and be a part of University of Mount Olive Athletics.

Immediately after the dinner a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place for the new hospitality room in Kornegay Arena. University of Mount Olive President Philip Kerstetter, Ph.D., and Jeff Eisen took part in the ribbon cutting.

The hospitality room, which features memorabilia from University of Mount Olive championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, will be used during home basketball games and other events.  During basketball games, the room will generally available only to Trojan Club members at the Green level and above, but it will also be available to special groups, such as alumni during the Pickle Classic/Homecoming games.  On non-event days, the room will be used as a conference room and for entertaining special guests, as well aplace for coaches to meet with recruits.

After the ribbon cutting, fans were treated to a sneak preview of the 2013-14 Trojan men’s and women’s basketball teams at the annual Green and White Games.
