Meet Jessica Ross. Read her Transforming Story.

Letter to the Editor:

Hi, I am Jessica Ross of Greenville, NC and this is my story of how University of Mount Olive helped me to transition easily from one life situation to another.  I am a 29 year old female, married with three children.  While I was working on my associate’s degree at Beaufort Community College, my husband was our home’s sole provider.  I worked little part time jobs here and there, but it was hard to find a good paying job without a college degree.  I finally obtained an associate’s degree in human services in 2008.  This degree opened up a great opportunity for me and my family.  I got a full time job at Martin Community Action (MCA), a great agency.

After completing my associate’s degree I wanted to continue my education and earn my bachelor’s degree, but I needed the job to help support my family.  University of Mount Olive at Washington allowed me to have a full time job and work on my education at the same time.

I recently lost my job at MCA due to a big budget cut.  However, in August I will graduate with my BA degree in business management with a concentration in health care management.  I am so glad that I did not stop my education.  Thanks to University of Mount Olive, I will be able to use my degree to apply for a job making even more money than an associate’s degree allowed me.  University of Mount Olive made life as an adult student easier for me.
