MOC Alumni Association Plans for February 23 Winter Glitz

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive Alumni Association is preparing for its annual Winter Glitz on February 23, at 6:00 PM in the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center. This year the theme will be “Cirque du Lune… A Magical Evening at the Circus.”  Alumnus Don Fader will serve as the emcee/ring master for the event.
Hope McPherson Fields, director of Alumni Relations, commented, “The Winter Glitz is a wonderful event that gives our alumni the opportunity to get dressed up and taken away to another place for just one night. This year it is very exciting that we have a circus theme! Who doesn’t love the circus?”
Guests will enjoy the thrills of the Big Top with circus entertainment, elegant dining and a special vocal performance by American Idol contestant Blair Mozingo. Popular local pianist and University of Mount Olive alumnus Tom Casey will provide dinner music.
A live and silent auction will also be held to raise money for student scholarships and will include such items as trips, tickets to sports events, gift baskets, etc. Well-known auctioneer Garry Price will lead the live auction.  To date $109,466 has been raised from previous Winter Glitz events to fund student scholarships.
“While the fun of the evening is exciting, the most important thing is the foundation for which the Winter Glitz was started,” said Fields.
“All proceeds from Winter Glitz go towards growing our student scholarships. Our Alumni Association has a passion for helping our students succeed!”
The menu for this year’s event will be Caesar salad, Beef Wellington, wild rice, fresh seasonal vegetables and gourmet cupcakes.  Winter Glitz, a black tie optional, reservation only event, is open to the public. Please contact Anne Hamm to make reservations at (919) 658-7822 or ahamm@moc.edu.  The cost is $75 for individuals or $125 for couples.
