Mount Olive College Concert Choir to Present “Trial by Jury” April 1
MOUNT OLIVE- The Mount Olive Concert Choir will present Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury” on April 1 at 7:30 PM in Southern Bank Auditorium.
Complete with colorful characters, a healthy dose of comedy and charm, and an undeniably witty plot, “Trial by Jury” has become one of the most beloved operas by the pair of Gilbert & Sullivan. In fact, it maintains its record as the most performed 40 minute one-act show in the US every year. Lead roles will include Sara McDaris of Wilson in the role of Angelina, the Plaintiff, and Joshua King of Faison in the role of the Defendant.
Concert Choir Director Dr. Risa Poniros, said, “I am very excited about this opportunity for the members of the University of Mount Olive Concert Choir, in collaboration with guest director Dr. Jim Waddelow from Meredith College and the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Jim Burnettte, often seen in many productions in Durham, N.C. with the Durham Savoyards, will sing the role of the Learned Judge. The Meredith College Sinfonietta will also add to this wonderful event, which promises to be a memorable performance not often performed in Eastern N.C.”
The show promises local humor, cameos from some familiar faces from the University of Mount Olive community, and more.
Tickets for the event are $10 and may be purchased at the door. For more information, contact Poniros at 919-658-7822 or rponiros@moc.edu.
