UMO Alumnus Receives Award from Clinton High School

MOUNT OLIVE-  University of Mount Olive Alumnus Erasmo Ordonez of Sampson County recently received the Blazing Star Award from Clinton High School. The Award recognizes teaching excellence within the school system.

Ordonez graduated in May of 2014 from the UMO with a bachelor’s degree in math education. His studies and academic opportunities at UMO led him to succeed in his first year of teaching at Clinton High School.

“It is an honor to even get considered for the award as a beginning teacher,” revealed Ordonez. “Being selected out of a very highly qualified pool makes it a huge honor. The award opened my eyes to realize that I was doing something right and really helping the school system and students.”

In the future, Ordonez plans to pursue a master’s degree in either education or mathematics and to continue to inspire and educate his students.
