UMO and Exchange Club to Sponsor Darkness to Light Event

MOUNT OLIVE – According to national statics one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by their 18thbirthday. Over 90% of the perpetuators know their victim.

The University of Mount Olive and the Exchange Club of Mount Olive are jointly sponsoring an event to help raise awareness of child abuse issues. A community kickoff meeting will be held on Monday, March 31, at 6:30 PM in the Southern Bank Auditorium located at 652 R B Butler Drive on the University campus.

Campus Chaplain Carla Williamson said, “The meeting is designed to bring members of our communities together to hear about the problem of child sexual abuse, to learn about its human and economic impact and find out what our community is doing to prevent it.”
For more information about this free event and how you can become involved, contact Carla Williamson at cwilliamson@moc.edu or call 919-658-7749.
