UMO Holds Pi Lambda Theta Induction

MOUNT OLIVE-  The University of Mount Olive (UMO) recently held its annual Pi Lambda Theta (PLT)  induction ceremony in Rodgers Chapel.  PLT is an education honor society and is a part of the Pi Delta Kappa International organization.  The honor society strives to recognize those with a personal commitment to excellence in education.  The induction and pining ceremony is to honor the undergraduate students’ commitment to the field of education and to celebrate the students before they embark upon student teaching.

The ceremony included the UMO students reading the Educator’s affirmation, signing the induction certificate, and being pinned by a member of the UMO faculty.  The pinning ceremony signifies the students’ acknowledgement and acceptance of the responsibility to the learning and development of their future students, as well as the broader commitment to society to engage and understand.

PLT consists of 20 future educators from UMO.  Seven new members were inducted.  Five PLT members graduated from UMO on May 7.
