UMO Hosts 2022 High School Honor Band

MOUNT OLIVE – UMO recently hosted the 2022 High School Honor Band program and concert. Local participating high school students attended four intense rehearsals, followed by a performance of the material that they had studied.

“The fast-paced intensive High School Honor Band program requires incredible endurance and concentration,” said UMO Professor of Music Dr. William Ford.  “Everyone stepped up to the plate and I was very proud of the results. Our own UMO band members were there to listen, responds, and encourage participants.  I was so proud of each and every one of them.”

Current UMO band student Jonathan Merrill stated, “The event was a great opportunity for high school seniors to experience collegiate level band, meet and talk with UMO students, and generally to get a feel of college life for a day.”
