UMO Spring Choral Concert Set for April 5

MOUNT OLIVE –On Tuesday April 5th, the University of Mount Olive Fine Arts Department will present its Spring Choral Concert.  The event will start at 7 PM and last about an hour.  It will be held in the Hazel Waters Kornegay Assembly Hall located at 207 Wooten Street in Mount Olive.

The concert will feature a variety of UMO ensembles including the UMO Jazz Band, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, and Concert Choir. As a finale, the UMO Concert Choir, the Fayetteville Technical Community College Choir, Lenoir Community College Choir, and Wayne Community College Choir will perform a wide range of choral music genres.

“This collaboration provides the opportunity for each of the schools to learn and explore music that they could not otherwise individually provide,” said Jonathan Saeger, UMO Assistant Professor of Music.

The Collaborative Choir Tour will also perform the same concert at the following venues:

  • April 6, 2022 at 7 PM at Fayetteville Technical Community College
  • April 7, 2022 at 7 PM at Wayne Community College
  • April 11, 2022 at 7 PM at Lenoir Community College

The Fayetteville Technical Community College Choir is directed by Alec Powers.  The Lenoir Community College Choir is directed by Jessica Cruz. The University of Mount Olive Choirs are directed by Jonathan Saeger.  The Wayne Community College Choir is directed by Randi Chalfant.

Tickets are not required for the April 5th concert at UMO. The event is free and open to the public.
