UMO Students Attend Honors Conference

MOUNT OLIVE- Four University of Mount Olive (UMO) Honors students recently attended the 2018 North Carolina Honors Association (NCHA) Conference at High Point University. The theme of the conference was “Conversations that Matter.”

Meredith Futrelle of Mount Olive, Mariela Matul-Puac of Mount Olive, Sarah Swain of Morehead City, and Andrea Palos Jasso of Malvern, PA represented UMO. Also attending were Director of the UMO Honors Program Dr. Brenda Cates and Assistant Director Dr. Alan Lamm.

Participants presented posters, gave 15-minute talks on the art of conversation, learned about how to apply graduate school, and listened to a keynote address from Dr. Kirstin Squint, entitled “The Journey from Conversation to Publication and All Points in Between.”

The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values.
