MOUNT OLIVE – In honor of National Aviation Day, the University of Mount Olive will host an aviation event on August 19, from 6-8:30 PM. Held at the Mount Olive Municipal Airport, the event will feature a band, hors d’oeuvres, and an insider look at UMO’s manned and unmanned degrees in aviation and business management. Three lucky attendees will have the opportunity to fly above the town of Mount Olive.
“Everyone in attendance will be entered into a drawing for the opportunity to take a discovery flight with UMO Director of Flight Operations Gary Whaley,” said Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Anna Whitman.
“We are excited to welcome guests to the UMO Flight School for an opportunity to see first-hand all of the exciting things happening out here!” said Whaley.
Guests are encouraged to RSVP for the event by contacting Anna Whitman at 919-299-4940 or awhitman@umo.edu. The Mount Olive Municipal Airport is located at 227 Airport Road in Mount Olive.
Vice President of University Advancement Jason Gipe said, “We are thankful to all the donors that helped start the UMO Flight School. Those initial gifts have helped launch the new Aviation Business Management program, and show the University’s continued dedication to invest in Eastern North Carolina. Programs like these will provide students with jobs upon graduation in a needed field, and help keep them in our local economies.”
The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The University is sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists. For more information, visit www.umo.edu.
