UMO Volunteers Raise Funds for Mount Olive Friends of the Park
The University of Mount Olive Departments of Financial Aid and Student Accounts recently held a fund raising event for Mount Olive Friends of the Park. UMO volunteers sold raffle tickets for two gift baskets created from items donated by community businesses. In addition to raising funds, the volunteers provided activities encouraging area youth to begin saving for college. During an April event at the park, participants were treated to lunch donated by community businesses, games, and photo opportunities with the Trojan mascot and several other characters. Participants also received free piggy banks and other give-away items for attending the event. Director of Financial Aid Katrina Lee said, “The donations of so many businesses in the community and the hard work of the student accounts and financial aid teams are what made it possible for our event to be such a huge success.” The event, which was part of the University’s Gifts and Talents Volunteer Service Initiative, raised $1,700 for the Mount Olive Friends of the Park.
