University of Mount Olive Plans 9/11 Remembrance Event
MOUNT OLIVE – September 11, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorists attack on the United States. The University of Mount Olive community will join the nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives in the attacks. At 8:46 AM on Sunday, September 11, at the University of Mount Olive Alumni Crosswalk, the College’s carillon bells will chime, followed by Scripture reading and a time of silent prayer. The public is invited to participate in this time of remembrance.
“We must not forget what we have learned from this horrendous act of terrorism, we must not forget the hundreds of children who lost parents and the thousands of others who were affected that day,” said Chaplain Carla Williamson. “Please come and join us as we remember, as we forgive, and as we ask God for the strength and wisdom to move forward in our efforts to live in peace with all of creation.”
