University of Mount Olive Shares the Gift of Music with the Community

MOUNT OLIVE – On Tuesday evening University of Mount Olive was transformed into a winter wonderland for the fourth annual Christmas by Candlelight service.  Attendees were treated to a variety of pre-event activities including an ice skating rink, a station for making snow globe keepsakes, and a cookie decorating station complete with hot chocolate.
Following the pre-event festivities, guests were treated to a Christ-centered service at the beautifully decorated Mount Olive Assembly Hall.  The service, patterned after the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, included nine Scripture lessons tracing the history of salvation.  Each reading, presented by College and community members, was followed by a carol made possible by the University of Mount Olive Music Department, The Bridge Choir, and the Continental Society Children’s Chorus of Goldsboro.  The closing song was signed by Kayla Seymour and College President Dr. Philip P. Kerstetter
Kerstetter commented, “As a Christian College we have the unique opportunity to celebrate this most joyous time of year in a way that honors our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We are pleased to be able to provide this Christmas gift to the community.”
