University of Mount Olive Student Art On Display
MOUNT OLIVE – The opening reception for the annual spring Student Art Show is April 17, from 4 to 6 PM in the Teresa Pelt Grubbs Fine Arts Gallery and Laughinghouse Hall Student Gallery.
Senior Courtney Siefert of Erlanger, Kentucky (just southwest of Cincinnati, OH) will be featured in this year’s show, along with many other students from the Art and Visual Communications Department. Siefert will show paintings and drawings, which represent scenes and people from her everyday life. Siefert’s work allows one to experience the media and process of creating each piece because she doesn’t focus on details. The interest of her work lies in how colors and shapes fit together to present an otherwise realistic piece. In talking about her work, Siefert says, “I aim to keep the detail simple so the viewers’ eyes are constantly moving and not focusing on just the object, but the way it was created.”
For many, this will be the first time displaying work in an exhibit. Community members are invited to come out and support the continued growth of the Department and its students. The show will be open through the end of May.
