University of Mount Olive Students Attend 2012 NIRSA Region II Conference
MOUNT OLIVE – Three University of Mount Olive students were chosen to appear at the 2012 NIRSA Region II Conference held recently in Raleigh. The Conference was hosted by North Carolina State University. Students attended a campus recreation and fitness session, mock interviews, and educational sessions discussing topics in their field of study.
The three students chosen were: Will Shearin of Pine Level, Sara Elizabeth Uzzell of Jacksonville and Ethan Edwards of Jacksonville. All three students are exercise science majors who currently work in the Pope Wellness Center.
“I wanted to give some of our current student workers a chance to grow and learn as young professionals and gain as much knowledge as possible from this conference,” said Michael Garrett, director of the Pope Wellness Center. “Our young professionals walked away with hands on experience with some of the latest fitness equipment, new group fitness ideas, opportunities to network with other Colleges in the Southeast region and education though professional development sessions.”
