University of Mount Olive Students Recognized at State Leadership Conference

MOUNT OLIVE—Students involved in Future Business Leaders of America—Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL), the largest and oldest student business organization, were recently recognized at the 58th Annual PBL State Leadership Conference held in Charlotte, NC.  PBL members, advisers, and professional division members representing 30 local chapters participated in this annual event.
Six students from University of Mount Olive attended the conference:  Jessica Pineda of Mount Olive, Martin Brekko of Norway, Efrain Valencia of Louisburg, Jacob Morton of Beulaville, Kimberly Ramirez of Leland, and Rubi Hernandez of Mount Olive as well as their advisor, Ms. Sonya O’Brien and Dr. Norm Crumpacker, TSB faculty and PBL Professional Division Member.
Individuals, teams, and local chapters were encouraged to compete in any of the many different events representing a wide range of activities and the business and leadership development focus of FBLA-PBL.
Mount Olive brought back many awards for their excellent work in the competition which include: 1st place in Statistical Analysis awarded to Jessica Pineda; 1st place in International Business awarded to Martin Brekko; 1st place in Business Communications awarded to Jessica Pineda; 2nd place in Statistical Analysis awarded to Efrain Valencia; 2nd place in Business Ethics awarded to  Team–Jacob Morton and Martin Brekko; 4th place in Help Desk awarded to Kimberly Ramirez; 5th place in Sales Presentation awarded to Efrain Valencia; 7th place in Microeconomics awarded to Jacob Morton; 8th place in Sales Presentation awarded to Rubi Hernandez. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from the conference will advance to nationals in San Antonio in June.
The University of Mount Olive PBL members not only placed individually, but also as an organization received other Certificates/Recognitions. These achievements include: The  prestigious Terry Lowrance Leadership Award for their program of work; 3rd place, Eastern Region Largest Local Chapter Membership; 2nd place, Largest Increase in Chapter Membership, Eastern Region; 2nd place, Largest Percentage Increase in Chapter Membership, Eastern Region; 1st place, Eastern Region Professional Division Membership; Membership Achievement Award for Maintaining/Increasing Membership over the previous year; and Certificate for Contribution to the NCPBL Foundation, Inc., Scholarship Fund.
