MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive received a grant for $4,620 from the USPOULTRY Foundation to be used for student recruitment and retention efforts. This award was made possible in part by Perdue Farms.

Mike Levengood, vice president, chief animal care officer and farmer relationship advocate at Perdue Farms presented the check to Dr. Heather Glennon, associate professor of animal science at UMO. The grant will be used to recruit UMO poultry science students. These efforts will include a summer livestock and poultry camp for high school students, as well as field trips to local poultry farms, feed mills, and processing facilities.

The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The University is sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists. For more information, visit www.umo.edu.
