Vietnam Exhibit Coming to UMO and Wayne County

MOUNT OLIVE-In support of this year’s Wayne County Reads program, three Wayne County organizations will host an exhibit of photos by Vietnam veterans. The A Thousand Words the exhibit includes 60 black and white and color reproductions of photographs taken by North Carolina Vietnam veterans during their tours.

Curator of the exhibit is Winston-Salem photojournalist and teacher, Martin Tucker.  Tucker began working on the exhibit in 2004.  He says, “What began as a simple idea for a black and white darkroom class at a community arts school has snowballed into a national traveling exhibition.”

This year’s Wayne County Reads selection, The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien features stories from the Vietnam War.
