Collegiate FFA Recognized as Club of the Year at MOC

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive Collegiate FFA was recently recognized with the distinction of being the 2010 Club of the Year.  CFFA has been involved in a number of service and community awareness projects this year including The Coats for Kids project during which CFFA members provided over 100 coats, hats, and gloves to Carver Elementary School students with needs. The Club also helped create the Fitness Garden, a community-based garden in which CFFA members teach community members about health and how to grow healthy food products.  Additionally CFFA prepared 50 boxes for Operation Christmas Child through University of Mount Olive and helped with numerous other projects such as food drives, disaster relief, and a soup kitchen.

Probably among the most important aspects of CFFA has been the willingness of the members to support the College and activities within the Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center. CFFA has participated in student recruitment activities including the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis; career fairs throughout the state, the Tobacco Federation’s FFA Leadership events, and regional conferences.  The Club Advisor is Dr. Sandy Maddox, Associate Director of the Lois G. Britt Agribusiness Center.

University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The College, sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists, has locations in Mount Olive, New Bern, Wilmington, Goldsboro, Research Triangle Park and Washington.
