David Ball Shares His MOC Transforming Experience
David Ball of Moss Hill, NC is a 21 year old senior at University of Mount Olive. He will graduate on May 4, with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a minor in chemistry. After graduation he plans to pursue a job in agriculture research. His interest in agriculture research was spurred with a three month internship at Pioneer Research Center in Kinston, NC. In his own words, he shares his MOC Transforming story…
“The road to earning my degree started in the fall of 2009 right out of high school. I felt like I had entered a whole new world and didn’t have the slightest clue what I was going to do with my life. I went through my first semester thinking of being a meteorologist, but that changed at the beginning of second semester when I met Dr. Daniel Gall who was the head of the Environmental Science Department at the time. With God by my side, I decided to be an environmental science major and complete a minor in chemistry. The semesters came and went and the work became harder and more stressful to complete. I learned that you can’t get through college without God and Family. University of Mount Olive has transformed my life by giving me more responsibility, and helping me make decisions that will reflect my future ahead. The College has shown me that determination to accomplish work can lead to a sense of pride in accomplishments achieved.
As I get ready to graduate this May, I look back and realize how much support from a family and a special woman in your life can change the way you work. I would like to express my appreciation to the love of my life, Kimberly Rouse, as we are getting married on November 2, 2013. I would also like to thank my family and friends for all the support that I have received, because I couldn’t have made it without them. Thank you God for getting me to this stage in my life!”
University of Mount Olive will graduate approximately 360 students at its 59th spring commencement on Saturday, May 4th. Graduation exercises are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the George and Annie Dail Kornegay Arena.
