Gibbons Ruark Reading at MOC

In Celebration of National Poetry Month University of Mount Olive School of Arts and Sciences presents a reading by renowned poet Gibbons Ruark Thursday, April 19th at 4 o’clock in the Best Room, Murphy Center. Known for his deeply personal, often elegiac lyrics about his native North Carolina and beloved Ireland, the distinguished American poet Gibbons Ruark published in The New Yorker, The New Republic, and Poetry. His collections include Rescue the Perishing, Small Rain, Keeping Company, Reeds, A Program for Survival, Passing Through Customs: New and Selected Poems and, most recently, Staying Blue.

He has won numerous awards including three Poetry Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Pushcart Prize.
