Honors Students – Voyagers aboard Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition

On January 19, 2013, ten students in the University of Mount Olive Honors Program viewed the Titanic: The Artifacts Exhibition currently on display at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. Accompanied by Dr. Norman Crumpacker, the Honors Program Chair and Assistant Professor of Management for the Tillman School of Business, and Dr. Alan Lamm, the Department Chair and Professor of the History and Social Studies Department, the group toured a Titanic showcase that included over 200 artifacts recovered from the wreckage site of the British passenger liner. The exhibit, which celebrates the 100thanniversary of the Titanic’s historic maiden voyage, granted each ‘voyager’ the opportunity to take on the identity of an actual passenger aboard the Titanic as they explored the display of the ship’s interior and discovered the tragic legacy of the “unsinkable” ship.
