Katrina Lee, Director of Financial Aid at the University of Mount Olive, recently completed a certification that few in academia possess. Offered through the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the Financial Aid Administrator Certification (FAAC) is a rigorous program that enhances the financial aid community, promotes professional development, encourages continuous learning, and inspires quality job performance.  At the time that Lee received her certification, there were less than 200 Financial Aid Administrators in the United States with the designation.

According to NASFAA website, the certification program helps the higher education community and its stakeholders recognize financial aid administrators for their knowledge and experience, their role as stewards of taxpayer dollars and institutional funds, their contributions to the success of their institutions and their students, and their commitment to the highest standards of ethical behavior.

“I view the certification as a necessary step in the continued expansion of my knowledge in the administration of financial aid funds and plan to use it to raise the level of expertise of the entire financial aid staff,” Lee said.

Lee joined the University of Mount Olive in 2003.  Throughout her 17-year career at the University, she has helped assist thousands of students to pave the way to realizing their educational goals.  “By helping students realize those goals and dreams, I sincerely believe our staff has helped them pave the way to a better life,” Lee said. “I am honored daily to be a small part of such a noble profession.”

The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The University, sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists. For more information, visit www.umo.edu.
