Kornegay Continues Service on University of Mount Olive Board

MOUNT OLIVE – Robert Byrd Kornegay ‘08 will serve his fourth year with the University of Mount Olive Board of Trustees on the Academic Affairs Committee. The 30 member Board is charged with the oversight and governance of the College. University of Mount Olive Trustees have the responsibility of establishing the identity of University of Mount Olive through leading, planning and interpreting.

Kornegay earned his first associate degree in applied science with a concentration in general agriculture from North Carolina State University in 1982. He graduated from University of Mount Olive in 2006 with an associate degree in science and went on to earn his bachelor degree in business administration with a major in management and organizational development from the College in 2008.

He is the co-owner and secretary-treasurer of Kornegay Brothers Inc. and the current manager of marketing and member services at Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation. He also serves as a board member of other organizations including: James Sprunt Community College, Duplin Community Foundation, Duplin Education Foundation, the Lois G. Britt Agri-Business Advisory Council and El-Centro de Duplin.

Kornegay attends Snow Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church of Mount Olive, where he serves as a member of the Board of Deacons. He is married to Penny James Kornegay.
